the "Information Out" Direction: a Data Access Story

I'm doing research on the patterns of funding for projects in the North Bay that have anything to do with invasive species,

I'd like to be able to:

  • search with the keyword "Invasive species" and all the narrower terms, and narrow the search to the North Bay area by drawing a box and then selecting the watersheds
  • get the results in a summary spreadsheet that can be sorted alphabetically by the categories "Funding Type" and "Organization"
  • click on "Organization" and see contact, org type, and other information and a link to the organization's website
  • check boxes next to the records that I want and download them, choosing to also get the organization record that is linked to each project description as either the project lead or the funder
  • I want to then use my own spreadsheet or database to analyze what types of organizations- Private, Local/state/federal govt., etc. are giving out funding and how much for invasive plants vs. invasive animals, and my GIS to display the locations of the projects together with maps of invasive and endangered species.

Please feel free to edit this wiki page or add a comment. -Deanne

Use cases vs stories

David says:
"These use cases would be better titled "user stories" or "use scenarios" which we would then distill down into use cases which would be more numerous, specific, and linear. We also need to think about how these user stories which describe the utopia of a fully functioning system can be divided into smaller increments of functionality which can be build iteratively using a rapid development model."
